AGILITY CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

• BEGINNERS

Introduction to equipment and basic handling skills.
Goal: Familiarize dog with equipment, not necessarily at full height, and handler will be able to execute basic handling maneuvers.

• ADVANCED BEGINNERS

Continuation of Beginners. Emphasis on confidence and speed on equipment. Concentration on contacts, weavepoles, handling techniques, and full height equipment.
Goal: To work sequences of 10 or more obstacles with equipment at full height.

• INTERMEDIATE

Focus on complex handling maneuvers, course strategy, and stringing sequences together. Also focus on straightening the weavepoles.
Goal: To successfully plan and run Novice and Open-level courses.

• PRE-COMPETITION

Preparation for competing at the Novice level. Emphasis on dog-handler teamwork, traps, call-offs, changes of sides, weavepole entrances, ring procedures, and familiarization with competition rules. Also emphasis on fixing individual equipment problems, especially weave poles.
Goal: To successfully complete Open and Excellent level courses in practice and begin competing at the Novice level.

• COMPETITION - LEVEL 1

Competition at Novice and Open levels. Dogs must be able to successfully perform on all equipment. Increased complex sequencing, handling techniques, course analysis.
Goal: Greater speed and accuracy in competition, and preparation for competing at higher levels.

• COMPETITION - LEVEL 2

Competition at Open and Excellent/Elite levels. Dogs must be able to perform on all equipment including 12 upright weavepoles. Increased complex sequencing, handling techniques, course analysis, and distance handling. Weighing speed and accuracy when planning a course to determine your handling methods.
Goal: To broaden team's comfort zone and compete successfully at the higher levels.
